Dr Matthew Pulvirenti, BDSc
Dr Matthew Pulvirenti leads the team at Edward St Dental, practising dentistry with enthusiasm and a commitment to creating and maintaining beautiful smiles. By welcoming patients and family members of all ages, Dr Matthew emphasizes a holistic approach to dental care. From your very first visit, he wants to provide a comfortable environment and a tailored approach to your care, discussing options and explaining the benefits to you in simple language so you can make the best choice for your oral health needs.
Having grown up in North Queensland, Dr Matthew's father owned the only dental practice in his small town – the clinic was right next door to the family house. After graduating from the University of Queensland, Dental School in 1996, he worked with his father for eight years before moving to Brisbane to open his own practice. What Dr Matthew loves about being a dentist is the opportunity to provide patients with a better experience than they have ever have encountered previously. He also values the opportunity to form a new relationship.
Dr Matthew likes to be active and fit in his spare time, playing golf and following every sport played on planet earth. He also loves music and the theatre.
Dr Ross Galloway, BDS
Born and bred in Brisbane, Dr Ross Galloway is part of a family with a solid dental tradition. He is the third Galloway brother to attend the University of Queensland School of Dentistry. Graduating in 1985, he worked in Melbourne and the UK before returning to his hometown and opening Mary Street Dental. Being the principal dentist of this practice, Ross guided his team to establish one of Brisbane's most respected dental practices and is now partnering with Dr Matthew Pulviernti at Edward St Dental.
Ross enjoys all aspects of general dentistry, focusing on crown and bridge restorations and high-tech dentistry. He attends regular courses and lectures to keep abreast of the latest the dental world has to offer. In addition, Ross established one of Brisbane's premier dental study groups to maintain superior dental education. As a dentist, Ross enjoys learning the life stories and personalities of his clients and adapting dental treatments to suit their unique character and needs.
When able, Ross enjoys running marathons, playing golf, bushwalking and painting.
Dr Malcolm Cambpell, BDS
Dr Malcolm Campbell graduated from the University of Queensland in 1984 and worked in the hospital-based dental service within the School Dental Service. He has also worked overseas as a Dental officer in the Australian Army Reserve for almost 15 years. He began working with Dr Ross Galloway in 1997. Mal's main area of interest is in special needs dentistry, particularly in the care of elderly and medically compromised patients.
Mal is active in many other dental pursuits. He works with several charity organisations, including serving as Co-Director of The Timor Children's Foundation, a charity providing educational opportunities to young Timorese people with a limited dental program.
Mal is married to Andrea, and they have three children. His other interests include playing the Didgeridoo, and he is learning to play the piano/synthesiser. In addition, he enjoys tennis, sailing, maintaining the family farm and being a chauffeur for his kids.
Ms Emma Bowtell
Emma Bowtell started as a dental assistant in a general dental practice in 2006. She excelled at clean and polish appointments and worked for a periodontist whose team performed cleans each day. This immersion further sparked her drive to complete her studies and become an oral health therapist and periodontal hygienist. Emma joined Edward St Dental for the exciting opportunity to focus on strengthening an already very established hygiene department.
During her time at university, Emma achieved four awards for outstanding oral health practices. They include:
- ADOHTA QLD Branch Oral Health Prize 2015
- Colgate Oral Care Prize for Oral Health Clinical Practice 2015
- Southern Dental Industries Limited Oral Health Prize 2014
- Vardiman Dental Study Association Oral Health Prize 2013
Emma's goal is to individualise her client's oral hygiene regimes to obtain optimal oral health. She uses the latest technology in airflow to improve comfort during clean appointments. Emma also may take x-rays, complete digital teeth scans. In addition, she may treat your gum disease and will carry out whitening procedures and fluoride treatments.
During her time away from the clinic, Emma describes herself as a foodie. She loves eating out but also loves to cook. In addition, she enjoys travel and spending time with her dog Louis and her cat Hugo.
Mrs Danielle Hersant
Danielle Hersant started her journey in the dental field twenty years ago, working for Matthew and John Pulvirenti in Townsville. She even met her husband through the practice, whose daughter was an orthodontic patent of Dr Matthew's father. Danielle has been working with the Pulvirentis on and off for decades. To continue her studies in health care, she is studying for a Bachelor of Public Health degree.
Danielle loves to chat, so her favourite part of working with dental clients is welcoming each patient and chatting with them. She equally appreciates visiting with patients outside of the practice. She loves listening to each and everyone's stories.
In her spare time, Danielle loves to garden, so much so that her family calls her "crazy plant lady." She currently cares for more than 100 plants inside her house and on her deck. She also enjoys cooking and reading.
